Clemson, S.C.—Alice Hewson recorded her third consecutive top 10 finish to lead Clemson to an 11th place finish out of 15 teams at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational on Tuesday. The field included seven top 25 teams.
Hewson had a final score of 218 for the 54 holes played on the par 72 University of Texas Course to tie for sixth in the field of 81 golfers. She finished with 12 birdies, second best in the field.
Host school Texas won the tournament by 15 shots over Furman. The Longhorns had a team score of 866, while Furman was second at 881. Arizona State was third at 882. Clemson finished tied for 11th with Baylor at 907. The Tigers were in third place heading into the final round, but slumped to a 323 team score on Tuesday.
Clemson’s top golfer on Tuesday was senior Marisa Messana, who shot a 78 and she finished tied for 39th overall with a 228 score. Ana Paula Valdes also finished 39th with a 228 score for the 54 holes.
