CLEMSON, SC – Clemson track & field finalized its preparations for next week’s ACC Indoor Championships on Saturday at the Virginia Tech Challenge. The Tigers ran only one individual event the entire day, but three of the school’s relay teams established season bests at Rector Field House in Blacksburg.
The men’s and women’s distance medley relays improved their seed times for the ACC Indoor Championships with solid efforts Saturday. The women were up first, and cruised to victory in a time of 11:43.68, the second-best time in Clemson history. The group was comprised of Brianna Blanton, Madison Huffman, Lindsey Bellaran and Alexa Womack. The men’s DMR followed suit with a second victory, this time in 9:53.62. The men’s relay order consisted of Aaron Ramirez, Max Spence, Daniel Dey and Josh Davis.
The women’s 4×400 finished the afternoon with a runner-up effort. The Tigers posted a season-best running on the banked track in Blacksburg, crossing the finish line in 3:38.40. Clemson ran the team of Whitney Fountain, Nia Fluker, Nyjah Cousar and Brittany Pringley.
The Tiger program hosts the ACC Indoor Championships for the third time, and for the first time since 2007. The meet is scheduled for Thursday through Saturday at Clemson’s Indoor Track.
