Coral Gables, Fla. – Sophomore Jenna Thompson defeated the No. 85 ranked singles player in straight sets, but the Clemson women’s tennis team (6-4, 0-2 ACC) ultimately fell to No. 15 Miami (7-1, 2-0 ACC) on Sunday afternoon, 6-1.

The Tigers dropped decisions on Court 1 and 2 in doubles. In singles, Clemson wasn’t able to quite rally past the Hurricanes. Thompson shined once again securing the lone singles point for Clemson with a two-set match victory of 6-4, 6-4 on Court 3. This is the sophomore’s second consecutive singles win in conference competition as she moves to 2-0 in the ACC.

“I am extremely happy with how I performed this weekend, and I thought I competed really well and brought the energy,” said Thompson of her 2-0 weekend in Florida. “I have been working really hard and I felt it payed off this weekend. Once we get back to Clemson, it’s time to get back to work and get ready to take down BC and Syracuse!”

Up Next: The Tigers travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass. on Friday, March 4 to take on Boston College for a 3:00 pm scheduled contest.
