Clemson Falls at South Carolina

Columbia, S.C. – The Clemson volleyball program fell to 24th-ranked South Carolina 3-0 (14-25, 23-25, 12-25) on Friday afternoon in its Palmetto Invitational finale. Ani Clark had six kills and five blocks against the Gamecocks, who improved to 41-24 in the all-time series. 

South Carolina hit .333 on the afternoon, totaling 40 kills to Clemson’s 26. South Carolina was led by Kyla Manning, who finished with nine kills on the day. Five Clemson players finished with four or more fills, led by Clark. Devan Taylor’s eight digs led Clemson in the back row. 

Clemson’s best set was the second, where they fought off two set points to draw within one at 24-23 before South Carolina closed it out. Clemson hit .348 in the set and was able to sideout on 62 percent of South Carolina’s serves in the frame.

Clemson returns home to play Gardner-Webb on Sunday at 4 p.m. in Jervey Gym. The match is broadcast on ACCNX.

Match Notes:

  • Mckenna Slavik made her season debut, finishing with 19 assists and six digs. 
  • Devan Taylor had eight digs, snapping her three-match streak in double fiogures to start the season.
  • Clemson had a season-high 14 service errors.
