AUBURN, AL–Clemson hit a season best .312 as a team, but dropped a four-game college volleyball match to Appalachian State Saturday night in the finals of the Auburn Invitational at Auburn, AL. Clemson fell to 3-7 with the defeat, while Appalachian State improved to 5-4.
Clemson won the first game 15-8, but Appalachian State won the last three games by scores of 15-12, 15-3 and 15-10. Clemson reached the finals with victories over host school Auburn on Friday and Navy on Saturday morning.
Jodi Steffes led Clemson with a .327 hitting percentage against Appalachian State. She led the Lady Tigers with 16 digs. It was the third straight match in which Steffes hit at least .300. The junior hit .349 on Friday in the win over Auburn and .346 win the win over Navy on Saturday. She also led Clemson in digs in the tournament with 42.
