Clemson Dominates Duke in Spring Season Opener

Durham, N.C. – The Clemson men’s soccer team opened its slate of spring matches with a 3-0 victory over Duke on Sunday, Feb. 23. The Tigers saw all three goals scored in the final 45 minutes of play. Chris Matlashewski, Callum Johnson and Alvaro Gomez were the goal scorers on the day. Mohamed Seye and Philip Mayaka contributed the three assists, with Seye serving the final ball on the opening two goals of the match.

Johnson, who joined the program in January as a mid-year transfer from Boston College, saw his first action on the pitch as a member of the Clemson program on Sunday.

George Marks played a full 90 minutes in net, making one save during the match.

Clemson will now shift its focus towards preparing for its next spring match, slated to take place against NC State in Raleigh, N.C. on Saturday, Feb. 29. Kick-off is slated for 5 p.m. at WRAL Fields.
