Clemson Defeats Marshall In Overtime, 45-37

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Lakeia Stokes scored 18 points and teammate Amanda White had 11 points and 13 rebounds in leading Clemson to a 45-37 overtime win over Marshall in the Nassau Bahamas Women’s Basketball Tournament at Nassau, Bahamas Saturday night.

With the win, Clemson improves to 6-2 overall, while Marshall falls to 6-4 this season. Clemson will play the winner of the Mississippi-Oakland (MI) winner Sunday night at 8:00 p.m.

Stokes finished the game hitting 6-14 from the field and 4-8 from the free throw line. She also was 2-2 from the three-point line.

The score was tied 34-34 with 1:22 left to go in regulation. Clemson’s Tabitha Vasilas missed a jumper with :23 seconds remaining and Marshall rebounded. Clemson’s defense did not allow Marshall to attempt a shot and eventually forced a turnover as time expired.

In overtime, White scored five points and Stokes added four as the Lady Tigers outscored the Thundering Herd 11-3 in the overtime period.

Marshall outrebounded the Lady Tigers 51-45. Both teams had trouble shooting as Clemson hit 16-63 from the field for a .254 pct. and Marshall was 16-58 from the field for a .276 mark.
