Clemson Defeats Furman in Final Exhibition

CLEMSON, S.C.- Senior Savannah Coiner and sophomore Catrina Atanda scored in the final 13 minutes of the game to help the Tigers to a 2-0 exhibition game win over Furman at Historic Riggs Field Friday night.

The game was scoreless until Atanda scored in the 78th minute on a diagonal shot from eight yards out on Furman goalkeeper Holly Reilly. Less than two minutes later, Coiner followed up with a goal of her own on a long-range shot, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead, good enough to hold off the Furman offense and give Eddie Radwanksi’s Tigers the win.

Junior keeper Hunter Rittgers posted two saves, and kept the opponent off the scoreboard for the second-straight game, after recording a combined shutout with Anna Davis vs. Georgia in Clemson’s 3-0 victory last Sunday.

The Tigers return to action Friday, Aug. 22 as they host Auburn in their regular season opener at Historic Riggs Field at 7 p.m. Admission is free to all Clemson home women’s soccer games.
