CLEMSON, SC – Paige Ledford scored the game’s only goal in leading Clemson to a 1-0 win over Florida State in a women’s NCAA Soccer Tournament match at Clemson, SC Sunday afternoon.

On a give and go, Paige Ledford passed the ball to Lindsay Browne on the right. Browne crossed the ball from the right to Ledford who scored on a left-footed shot from close range near the left post.

This was Ledford’s 10th goal of the season, and Browne’s eighth assist this season.

The Lady Tigers will play the winner of the Georgia-Florida match in the NCAA Final 16 at a site to be determined. Georgia and Florida will play later this afternoon.

Clemson has advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s Final 16 five times since Clemson first started women’s soccer in 1994. The Lady Tigers have also been to the NCAA Final Eight three times.

“I am proud of Florida State and their Head Coach Patrick Baker,” said Clemson Head Coach Todd Bramble. “They did a great job with their program, and they gave us everything we could handle today. The game felt similar to the Kentucky game as there were lots of swings of possession today. A big part of our victory was to handle their momentum swing at the beginning of the second half. It was important that our forwards can step back and be strong defensive players. This factor helped us hold our lead and have good clock management. We have had two consecutive shutouts in the NCAA Tournament and I am very proud of our team and their effort.”
