Tallahassee, Fla. – Newcomer Gladys Chepngetich was named ACC Women’s Freshman of the Year and was tabbed to the 2023 All-ACC team alongside junior Sawyer Dagan as the Clemson Tigers complete the conference cross country championship in Tallahassee.
“The ACC is a tough conference and I am really proud of how both teams competed today. It was great to see Sawyer grab an All ACC spot and an honor for Gladys as she captured the ACC freshman of the year award,” Head Coach Vicky Pounds said.
On the women’s side, Chengetich was the first to cross the line for Clemson as she completed the 6k in 19 minutes and 58 seconds to earn a seventh place overall finish. Being the first true freshman to cross the line in the 6k, Chepngetich was crowned Freshman of the Year for the women.
As one of the Top-21 finishers, Chepngetich was also named to the Women’s All-ACC team.
On the men’s side, Dagan crossed the line first for the Tigers as he completed the 8k in 23 minutes and 40 seconds, garnering him a 18th overall finish. Finishing in the Top-21, Dagan was named to the Men’s All-ACC team.
In the Women’s 6k, the Tigers finished 14th overall and in Men’s 8k, the Tigers finished 12th.
