Freshmen outside hitters Camryn Hannah (14 kills and 12 digs) and Cate Long (13 kills and 10 digs) also chipped in double-doubles in Saturday’s nightcap. After tying her career high in assists (52) in Saturday’s opening match, sophomore setter Mckenna Slavik posted another strong outing with a match-high 50 assists in Saturday’s second contest.

The Tigers came out strong with Long bringing in three of Clemson’s first four points. Both teams were within two points of each for nearly the entire set before Clemson extended its lead to three, 23-20. Eight Clemson hitting errors proved to be too much to overcome as the 49ers went on to take the opening game, 26-24. Finney finished the set with six kills and one error on nine attempts to hit .714. Hannah was not far behind with five kills on seven swings and no errors to hit .556 in the first.

After a tightly-contested opening set, the 49ers jumped out a 23-11 lead, which included five unanswered Charlotte points late in the set. The 49ers sided out on all 11 Tiger serves sent across the net.

In the extended third, both teams were tied, 20-20. Clemson took the lead with four unanswered points only to have four unanswered Charlotte points in return to tie the set once again, 24-24. The 49ers had match point, 26-25, but the Tigers prevailed, winning set No. 3 in extras, 30-28. Both Long and Hannah tallied five kills each in the third.

Both teams were tied, 10-10, early in the fourth, but the 49ers gradually extended their lead in the latter half of game No. 4 before taking the set and match. Hannah posted four kills on seven swings and six digs in the final frame.

Clemson returns to action on Friday, Feb. 12 in Jacksonville, Florida at UNF. The match against the Ospreys is scheduled for 9 a.m., and is set to stream on ESPN+.
