Chandler Simpson Joins Athletic Communications Department

Clemson, S.C. – Clemson Athletics announced on Thursday that Chandler Simpson has been named the Associate Director of Athletic Communications. Simpson will oversee the communication strategy of the women’s basketball program, as well as football media credentialing and involvement with Men’s Soccer.

Simpson, a two-time Clemson graduate, most recently served six years with Furman Athletics as the Assistant Sports Information Director and Social Media Director.

“I am really excited to return to Clemson in the communications department,” said Simpson. “Clemson has always been home for me, and I am eager to again have the chance to serve my alma mater in this capacity. I’m particularly looking forward to working with Coach Butler’s staff, as well as the many talented people in the department.”

“Chandler has earned a reputation in the industry for being a detail-oriented and creative communications professional, and I’m excited to welcome her back,” said Jeff Kallin, Associate AD for Communications. “We’re fortunate to have someone with such strong institutional knowledge and work ethic in this key position, and I’m looking forward to seeing Chandler grow as a leader and a professional.”

Simpson earned her undergraduate degree from Clemson in 2010, and a Master’s in 2012, all as a member of Clemson’s Sports Information Department, led by Tim Bourret. After a year at the Southern Conference, Simpson took a role at Furman where she served as a sport contact and was responsible for social media strategy for all of Furman’s athletic programs. She is also a current member of CoSIDA New Media Committee and Mentorship Program.

Simpson steps into the position formerly held by Megan Barnes, who recently took a position at the University of Miami.
