CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Sophomore Samantha Buyckx had an outstanding afternoon as the Clemson women’s tennis team (6-5, 0-3 ACC) fell to Boston College (5-3, 2-1 ACC) by a score of 5-2.
The Tigers came out strong and secured doubles victories on Courts 2 and 3 to earn the point. Samantha Buyck and Ali Despain earned a 6-4 victory on Court 2 and improved to 4-1 on the season as a pair.
Boston College regained control of the match early in singles play, jumping out to a 3-1 lead. Buyckx continued her successful day, earning the lone Clemson victory in singles by a score of 7-5, 6-2 on Court 2 to cut the deficit in half, but it wasn’t quite enough. The Eagles closed out the match 5-2.
“I was proud of the way we stepped up in doubles today,” said Head Coach Christy Lynch. “BC came out and played extremely well in singles. Samantha had a great day and played aggressive and smart.”
Up next, the Tigers conclude their five game roadstand with an ACC battle with Syracuse on Sunday. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m.
