Brown, Lippeatt Earn ACC Weekly Honors

Clemson, S.C. – Following the program’s first-ever ACC win, Clemson’s Trinity Brown and Lilly Lippeatt were named ACC Specialist and Newcomer of the Week, respectively, as voted on by the league office. Brown’s honor is the first weekly honor of her career, while Lippeatt’s is ACC Newcomer of the Week for the second-consecutive week.

Both gymnasts competed in three events for the Tigers on Sunday afternoon, helping lead Clemson to a 196.200-194.775 victory over Pitt. Brown started the Tigers off strong, setting a career-high with a 9.900 in the anchor spot on vault, giving Clemson its highest team vault total of the season and Brown her first event win of the year.

Lippeatt continued her strong freshman season, scoring a 9.800 or better on all three events she competed in on Sunday. The redshirt freshman from Mason, Ohio, turned in season-highs on beam (9.850) and floor (9.875), and recorded a 9.800 on bars.

Brown is currently ranked #2 in the ACC on vault and #10 on floor, while Lippeatt is ranked #2 in the ACC on bars, #4 on beam, and #4 on floor where the Tigers hold the top four spots.

Clemson is back in action on Friday, January 26, traveling to Chapel Hill, N.C., for the first road contest of the season. The Tigers and Tar Heels face off at 7:30 p.m. on ACCNX.
