Clemson Notes:

  • The 2021 season marks Clemson’s 45th as a program and first under the direction of current head coach Jackie Simpson Kirr.
  • Clemson is 3-0 this season when playing at home in Jervey Gym.
    • The Tigers have defeated Samford, N.C. A&T and Gardner-Webb.

Martin among nation’s best finishers

  • Graduate Kaylee Martin ranks 7th among active players in the NCAA with 1,625 career kills.
  • Martin spent three seasons at Illinois State and one at Northern Illinois, where she amassed 1,536 kills and 748 digs, and was a four-time all-conference performer. She is using an additional season granted by the NCAA due to COVID.
  • She leads Clemson with 89 kills this season.

Slavik closing in on milestones

  • Junior Setter Mckenna Slavik is set to become just the 11th setter in Clemson history with 2,000 career assists, and would do so in just her 57th match when she reaches 6 on Friday.
  • Slavik’s 9.54 assists/set career average is fifth in Clemson history (min. 2 seasons).

Opponent Notes:

  • ETSU enters the Big Orange Bash with a 3-5 overall record this season, however, the Buccaneers have an ACC victory after defeating NC State 3-0 in in the Tennessee Classic.
    • The Bucs split a pair of matches last weekend at Winthrop and are currently 1-3 on the road and 2-2 on a neutral floor.
    • Josannah Vazquez leads the Bucs with 73 kills and 3.65 kills per set.
  • Rutgers has gotten off to a hot start to the season and stands at 7-2 overall entering the weekend tournament.
    • The Scarlet Knights own a mutual opponent match against NC State, but dropped it to the Wolfpack in five sets 3-2.
    • Beka Kojadinovic leads Rutgers with 102 total kills, including, 3.29 kills per set this season. She is hitting a team-best .271.
  • UNC Asheville will travel to Clemson this weekend with a 2-5 overall mark this season. It has wins over Western Carolina and North Carolina Central.
    • Molly Hackett (73) and Peyton McClinton lead the Bulldogs in total kills and both average over 3.0 kills per set. McClinton leads with 3.29 kills per set.
