Former two-time Clemson basketball All-American and ACC career scoring leader Barbara Kennedy-Dixon will be honored at the 2005 ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament as a member of the inaugural Legends class.
The inaugural ACC Legends Brunch, sponsored by Food Lion and Pepsi, will honor a group of 11 former standout players (one from each school) on Saturday, March 5 at Greensboro Coliseum. Each of the Legends will be introduced to the crowd later that day during halftime of the first quarterfinal game of the tournament.
Kennedy-Dixon, currently the director of women’s basketball operations for Clemson, is still the conference’s leading scorer and rebounder with 3,113 career points and 1,252 rebounds. She was an All-American in 1980-81 and 1981-82 and was a three-time, first-team All-ACC selection. She also was named ACC Tournament Most Valuable Player during her final two years at Clemson. She was one of four Clemson players named to the ACC’s 50th Anniversary Team in 2002.
Kennedy-Dixon, who was elected into the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989 and the state of South Carolina Hall of Fame in 1998, currently resides in Liberty, SC with her husband Marvin. The couple has two children, Jalen (10) and Jasmine (9).
