GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson’s Ashlan Ramsey has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Golfer of the Month for September.
In Clemson’s first ever women’s golf tournament, Ramsey led the youthful Tigers (five freshmen) to a second-place finish in the Cougar Classic (Sept. 8-10) at the Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, S.C., finishing one stroke behind team champion Florida.Ramsey shot a three-round 212 (72-69-71), finishing in a three-way tie for second with NC State’s Brittany Marchand and teammate Sloan Shanahan, and one stroke behind individual champion Anna Young of Florida.In the Lady Paladin Invitational (Sept. 20-22) at the Furman Golf Club in Greenville, S.C., the Milledgeville, Ga., freshman captured the individual championship by three strokes with a tournament-record seven-under par 209. Ramsey had rounds of 68, 71, and 70 for the tournament, giving her six consecutive rounds at par or better to start her Clemson career.
