CLEMSON, S.C. – For the second time this season, the freshman duo of Stewart Aronson and Marko Mesarovic have been named the ACC Doubles Team of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. The weekly honor comes after the pairing went 3-0 on the court for Clemson.
Opening up the weekend against Radford, Aronson and Mesarovic dominated in doubles as they were the first court to secure win by taking down the Highlander duo of Tom Saporta and Manfredi Vergine, 6-1. With help from the freshman, Clemson was able to clinch the doubles point after the court three duo of Wissam Abderrahman and Max Damm earned a victory as well. The Tigers went on to tab the victory over Radford, 7-0
Against Georgia Southern, the now two-time weekly award winners were responsible for securing the doubles point for the Tigers as they helped clinch the point after taking down the pairing of Pol Del Castillo and Dimitris Paliouras in an electric, 6-3 victory. With help from the duo, Clemson took down the Eagles, 6-1.
Closing out the weekend against SMU, the Tigers proved their determination in doubles as the Mustangs were the first to secure a doubles victory. Answering back was the freshman duo as they went on to record a 6-3 win against Maks Silagy and Julian Steinhausen. Clemson was able to secure the doubles point and defeat SMU 5-2 to wrap up a perfect, 3-0 weekend.
Aronson and Mesarovic are 6-2 this season in doubles as the pairing has continued to impress in the 2024 campaign.
The Tigers are back in action on Thursday, February 22 as they are set to host Furman and Wofford for their third doubleheader of the season at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. The match against the Paladins is set for 12 p.m. and the match over the Terriers is slated for 5 p.m.
