Andre Branch, Football, Redshirt Senior, Richmond, VA
Branch had 11 tackles, four sacks and six tackles for loss in Clemson’s 23-3 victory at Virginia Tech on Saturday. He led the team in all three areas and also had three quarterback pressures. His tackle total, sack total and tackle for loss total were all career highs, and the four sacks and six tackles for loss both tied Clemson single game records.
Branch was a big reason Virginia Tech scored just three points in the game. It was the first time since 1995 that Virginia Tech did not score a touchdown at home and tied for the largest margin of defeat for the Hokies at home in 20 years. Branch was named the ACC Player of the Week by Rivals.com, Defensive Lineman of the Week by the ACC and National Defensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness and the College Football Performance Awards for the performance.
