A Trio of Tigers Claim ACC Weekly Honors

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference released its weekly performance awards Tuesday afternoon, with three Clemson athletes securing honors for their efforts at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic.

Brian Kweyei | Men’s Track Performer of the Week

In the men’s 800m invite, Kweyei won with a time of 1:46.02, setting a Clemson record. He also recorded the second-fastest 800m time in ACC history (the fastest since 1989) and moved into a tie for No. 17 on the NCAA all-time list. Kweyei ranks seventh nationally and sits atop the ACC.

Gladys Chepngetich | Co-Women’s Track Performer of the Week

Chepngetich broke both the ACC and Clemson records after placing third with a time of 1:58.81 in the 800m invite. She climbed to No. 2 on the NCAA all-time list and currently leads the nation in the event. This marks her second ACC Women’s Track Performer of the Week honor, with the first coming on Jan. 13, 2026.

Nancy Cherop | Women’s Rookie Performer of the Week

Cherop completed the trio of school records by setting one in the women’s 3000m. Her time of 8:51.10 shattered the previous program mark by 24 seconds and ranks 15th nationally, fifth in the ACC and first among ACC freshmen. This is Cherop’s second consecutive ACC Women’s Rookie Performer of the Week award, following her 4:32.92 mile in her first-ever indoor race at the Orange & Purple Invitational.

USTFCCCA Rankings

  • The men’s team, previously ranked No. 21, moved up one spot to No. 20 nationally and are the second-highest-ranked ACC team.
  • The women are ranked an ACC-leading fifth nationally.

Tigers in the TFRRS National Rankings

  • The Tigers are nationally ranked 119 times in 31 different events between the men and women with 20 of them being in the top 25.
  • Clemson is ranked nine times in the top 10 with the list including:
    • Chepngetich (No. 1 women’s 800m, 1:58.81)
    • Shantae Foreman (No. 1 women’s triple jump, 14.17m / 46’ – 06.00”)
    • Grant Holliday (No. 4 men’s 400m, 45.61 seconds)
    • Oneka Wilson (No. 5 women’s 60m hurdles, 8.04 seconds)
    • Briana Campbell (No. 5 women’s 200m, 23.04 seconds)
    • Kweyei (No. 7 men’s 800m, 1:46.02)
    • Foreman (No. 7 women’s long jump, 6.50m / 21’ – 04.00”)
    • Jalen Johnson (No. 8 men’s 200m, 20.76 seconds)
    • Holliday (No. 10 men’s 200m, 20.80 seconds)
