No. 25 Clemson Falls to LSU, 4-3, After Rallying From a 3-1 Deficit

CLEMSON, S.C. – After falling behind 3-1, No. 25 Clemson (0-1) rallied to tie Louisiana State (1-0) at 3-3 before ultimately falling 4-3 in a third-set tiebreaker.

LSU took a 1-0 lead after winning two of three doubles courts. Matisse Farzam secured Clemson’s first point with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Ponce De Leon. LSU responded by taking the next two singles matches to extend its lead, 3-1. Romain Gales and Noa Vukadin then delivered back-to-back wins to even the match at 3-3. Gales defeated Kohlmann 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (5), while Vukadin topped Loncarevic 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.

In the deciding singles match, Marko Mesarovic battled LSU’s Ceccon deep into a third-set tiebreaker, with Ceccon ultimately prevailing 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4).

UP NEXT

Clemson will travel to Columbia, S.C. to face South Carolina on Saturday, Jan. 24, in the ITA Kickoff Weekend. Depending on the result, which contributes to the South Carolina Education Lottery Palmetto Series standings for 2025-26, Clemson will play either Michigan State or Harvard the following day.
