CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 24 Clemson (7-5-5, 4-4-2 ACC) is set to host Liberty (14-3-4, 6-0-2 CUSA) Friday, Nov. 14, for a 6 p.m. kickoff. Students can attend the match for free with a valid student ID, and general fans are required to purchase tickets HERE. The match can be viewed on ESPN+ and followed via live stats at clemsontigers.com.

 

Clemson has an all-time record of 2-0 against Liberty, with the Tigers hosting each match and outscoring the Flames 9-0. The two schools first met on Aug. 31, 2007, when Clemson defeated Liberty 4-0. The teams had a rematch on Sept. 9, 2018, with the Tigers winning 5-0.

 

Tigers in the Tournament

  • This will be Clemson’s 25th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, with the last one coming in 2023, when Clemson reached the College Cup Semifinals.
  • The Tigers have played in the NCAA Tournament four of the last five years and have made all but one tournament since 2014.
  • Clemson has scored 46 total goals in the NCAA Tournament and have competed in 12 matches where two or more goals were scored.
  • The Tigers have scored three or more goals in an NCAA Tournament match three times.
  • The most goals Clemson has scored in an NCAA Tournament are five, which came against N.C. State on Nov. 17, 2002.

  • The last time out, Clemson fell to No. 10 Duke 3-2 (Oct. 30).
    • Natalie Brooks scored her first career goal to give the Tigers an early 1-0 lead.
    • Anna Castenfelt scored her fourth career goal for a late push.
  • Clemson’s current freshman class (TopDrawerSoccer’s No. 2 ranked class) has multiple players making an impact early in their careers including:
    • Juju Harris (16 games started, leads the team with seven goals and seven assists).
      • Harris led ACC freshman in goals and assists, receiving All-ACC Third Team and earning a spot on the All-ACC Freshman Team.
    • Neely Kerr (17 games started, four assists and leads the team in minutes played with 1,461).
    • Reese Klein (17 games played, 16 started).
    • Taylor Leib (14 games played, two goals).
    • Elle Bissinger (12 games played, three starts, two goals and two assists).
    • Brooks (17 games played, nine starts, one goal and two assists).
    • Jolie Jenkins (17 games played, 15 started and two assists).

  • Brooks netted her first career goal.
  • Emily Brough notched her 45th career start and 75th career appearance.
  • Castenfelt scored her third goal of the season, fourth in her career.
  • Madie Costello recorded her first career assist.
  • Harris was credited with her seventh assist of the season.
  • Kerr had her fourth career assist.
  • Tatum Short played in her 60th career match.

 

Other Milestones

  • Renee Lyles sits at 79 career appearances.
    • Lyles is looking to surpass 5,500 career minutes, currently sitting at 5,487.
  • Nona Reason is one appearance away from having 25 at Clemson.
    • Reason could hit 1,500 minutes against Liberty, currently having 1,485.
  • Castenfelt is approaching 2,000 career minutes, having 1,937.
