CLEMSON, S.C. – Misei Yoshizawa netted his second-straight brace, James Kelly, Matthias Leib, Duncan Wilson and Andres Beirute score to push the Tigers over UNCW 6-0 at Historic Riggs Field Tuesday night. Clemson improved to 7-3-2 with the win while UNCW fell to 4-6-2.
Misei Yoshizawa got the scoring started for the Tigers. Yoshizawa drew the Seahawks’ goal keeper out to score on a strike in the back right with assists from Mason Jimenez and Ransford Gyan in the 30′. In the 40′ James Kelly added to the Clemson lead with a header into the mid-right corner of the net with an assist from Remi Okunlola to put the Tigers up 2-0. Clemson out shot the Seahawks 9-4 in the first half.
The Tigers went in the locker room and came out hungry for some goals. Yoshizawa just couldn’t contain his offensive power, netting his second-straight brace of the season, with a flick into the right corner of the goal with an assist from Okunlola in the 69′. Matthias Leib couldn’t sit out on the fun and netted his first career goal off an insane assist from Nathan Richmond to bring the Clemson lead to 4-0 in the 76′. Duncan Wilson chipped in his first goal of the season with an assist from Richmond in the 80′. Andres Beirute wrapped up the scoring for the Tigers with his first career goal assisted by Kyle Mattis Pennant in the 83′ with a header in the middle of the goal.
The Tigers have now scored six goals in a match twice this season.
