Clemson Championship 8+ Lineup
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Clemson Rowing program, building off the momentum of a strong first year under Head Coach Adrienne Martelli’s, had another powerful showing at the 2025 edition of the Head of the Charles.
In the program’s second showing at the Head of the Charles under Martelli, Clemson’s Saturday boat, the Club 8+, secured a 14th place finish with a final time of 16:59.678. The time was just behind the Tigers’ 16:59.076 performance in the Club 8+ a year ago.
“The weekend was a good test to see where we are as a team after having a really solid fall of training. There was really great competition in both events, seeing crews from all over the world. Being here is always a very special experience,” Martelli commented, “I think the Club 8 had some good moments in their performance, but we also learned some things that we need to keep working on, which is why we do fall races.”
In Sunday’s version of events, the Championship 8+ crew raced to a final time of 16:11.292. The time was good for 12th place and was over 30 seconds faster than last year’s best time. This marks the new fastest time a Clemson crew has finished at the Head of the Charles since 2006.
“In the Champ 8, I think they had a really solid race. They started off a bit slower compared to the rest of the field, but kept pushing hard through the second half of the race and were able to move back on some teams. We’re looking forward to the Princeton Chase in two weeks where we’ll be seeing a few more collegiate teams and getting a couple of opportunities to race over the course of the weekend.”
The Tigers will row next on Sunday, November 2nd, in the Princeton Chase in Princeton, N.J.
