CLEMSON, S.C. – Misei Yoshizawa netted his first career brace to push the Tigers over No. 10 Duke 3-0 in front of a packed Historic Riggs Field Friday night. Coming into the match, Duke had only allowed one goal in ACC play but Clemson changed that with three netted in the match. Clemson now ranks second in the ACC with the win.
Defense was the story of the first half with the Tigers taking eight shots to the Blue Devils 6. Joseph Andema totaled one save in the first half to keep the score even at zero.
Clemson went in the locker room tied 0-0 and came out with a purpose. Kwaku Agyabeng took a shot and the ball soared into the tight left side of the goal to net his first career goal in the 54′ after a two-shot attempt by Clemson with an assist from Nathan Richmond to put the Tigers up 1-0 over the Blue Devils. Misei Yoshizawa didn’t want to be left out of all the fun and put in his third goal of the season with a shot to the back right in the 60′ to extend the Tigers’ lead to 2-0. Yoshizawa waited just four minutes before netting his first career brace. The Clemson defense drew Duke’s goal keeper out and Yoshizawa made it count, netting the third goal of the night with a beautiful shot to the middle of the goal to finish the Blue Devils off 3-0 in the 64′.
