CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson University women’s soccer team (3-1-2) won its second-straight match following a 2-0 victory over Charlotte Thursday night at Historic Riggs Field.
“It’s a good result against a good team who will do well in their conference. You know, all these games are important,” said Head Coach Eddie Radwanski. We like to think we could have gotten more but finishing off a 2-0 win and getting another shutout is something we will take every day of the week.”
How it Happened
In the 30th minute, Renee Lyles (second assist) sent a corner kick towards Charlotte’s goal to find Mackenzie Duff (first assist) who redirected it to Juju Harris on a ricochet. Harris then found the back of the net for her third career goal, putting the Tigers up 1-0.
“Juju’s goal was a great goal, and it comes at the right time to give us the lead. You know, she just got those great instincts.”
Freshman Alessandra Washington came off the bench to score her first-career goal off of a breakaway initiated by Carla Small who earned the assist.
“You got to see a little bit of what Alessandra is capable of doing. She’s just getting the rust out. The best is yet to come but we get those two [Harris and Washington] going, people are going to have a handful to deal with.”
Addy Holgorsen (first half) and Nona Reason (second half) both took 45 minutes in goal, each recording one save.
Clemson led Charlotte in shots (12-4) and shots on goal (7-2). The Tigers and 49ers each took three corner attempts and Clemson committed less fouls (7-10).

The Tigers are back home this Sunday, September 7 for a 6 p.m. kickoff against No. 15 Georgia.
“We know we’re playing a very good opponent and the momentum of the past few games points to the good habits and all the standards that we’re setting. We need to continue that no matter who we play. We have got to be ready; we have got to be on our toes. Concentration has got to be at its high level, and guess what? This will be a good test for us, and it’s going to help us get better. Win, lose or draw—we are going to get better from this game.”
