CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson University women’s soccer team (2-1-2) defeated Appalachian State (3-2-0) 3-0 Sunday night at Historic Riggs Field.
“It was a good win against a good App State team,” Head Coach Eddie Radwanski stated. “This is the second game of the weekend which is never easy. We were on the road for a while so a second home game in a row was really nice. Great support from the crowd tonight, we got to play in front of a lot of people. Overall, scoring three goals and getting a clean sheet was great for us.”
The Starting XI
How it Happened
In the 10th minute of the match, Harris netted her second-career goal to put the Tigers up 1-0. App State’s goalkeeper had a hand on the ball but Harris was able to put enough power into her shot to score anyway.
“Juju’s goal was important with how early it was in the game; getting that 1-0 lead takes the edge off of our team. Juju is good in and around the box and I’m happy for her because she works really hard and she deserved to get a reward.”
Lyles put the Tigers up 2-0 in the 65th minute with Brough getting the assist.
“On Renee’s first goal it was really well-done. Emily did a great job helping to create the opportunity after winning the ball in transition and then Renee finished it off. I’m happy for Renee, she’s got this goal-scoring instinct in her which is really nice to have.”
Lyles was then given a scoring opportunity via penalty kick in the 69th minute which she took full advantage of to put the Tigers up 3-0.
Nona Reason saw her first minutes in goal of the 2025 season after playing the entire second half. “It was so good to have Nona out there coming back from an injury. This was our first opportunity to get her on the field. Her experience brings a different type of presence to us, so we feel like we’re pretty strong in the goalkeeping department.”
