CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson University women’s soccer (1-1-1) team lost 4-0 against Virginia Tech (3-0-0) in Blacksburg, Va. Thursday night in a nonconference match. This was the first time since 2014 that Virginia Tech has won back-to-back matches against Clemson. The match was postponed over an hour due to inclement weather, resulting in a 9:46 p.m. kickoff.

How it Happened
Virginia Tech scored in the ninth minute. The rest of the first half was a physical battle that saw each team having a total of five combined shots with Virginia Tech’s goal being the only shot on goal. Clemson had two corner opportunities compared to Virginia Tech’s one.
The second half saw more action with the Tigers outshooting Virginia Tech 9-8. The Hokies tacked on three more goals occurring in the 52’, 72’ and 73’ minutes. Clemson took four corners while Virginia Tech took three.
The Tigers finished with 10 total shots (one on goal), two saves from Holgorsen, and six corner opportunities.
