Tigers Complete NCAA Cross Country Championships

MADISON, Wis. – The Clemson Tigers officially completed the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships as Silvia Jelelgo, Judy Kosgei and Gladys Chepngetich finished in the Top 70 in the women’s 6k and senior Sawyer Dagan ran a new personal best in his first appearance at nationals.

In the women’s 6k, the Tiger trio started off strong as they stayed with the front pack for the 1000 and 2000m split. Jelelgo led Clemson for majority of the race as she remained in the top 10 till the 4000m split. Crossing the line first for Clemson was Jelelgo as she finished the 6k with a time of 20:08.5 to earn 46th place.

Shortly following Jelelgo was Kosgei who tabbed 51st place with a time of 20:13.2. Rounding out the Tigers was Chepngetich who finished the 6k with a time of 20:21.8 to earn 67th place overall.

The three Tigers have impressed all season long as their incredible 2024 cross country season officially comes to a close. Freshman Jelelgo and newcomer Kosgei both shined in their first campaign with the Tigers and Chepngetich continued to dominate in her second season for Clemson.

In the men’s 10k, senior Dagan completed his first NCAA Cross Country Championship appearance as he crossed the line at 30:09.4 which marked a new personal best for the Tiger in the 10k. Starting at 210th place at the first split, Dagan continued to move up after each and every mile to finish 137th overall in Madison.

WOMEN’S 6K

Silvia Jelelgo – 46th place, 20:08.5

Judy Kosgei – 51st place, 20:13.2

Gladys Chepngetich – 67th place, 20:21.8

MEN’S 10K 

Sawyer Dagan – 137th place, 30:09.4 (PB)
