#9 Clemson to Face UNC Greensboro Tuesday

CLEMSON, SC – The ninth-ranked Clemson men’s soccer team will play host to UNC-Greensboro Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Historic Riggs Field. Clemson has a 5-0 record this season.  The Tigers are one of five teams in the country remaining that has an unbeaten and untied record.  The Tigers are led in scoring by Thomas McNamara with four goals and two assists for 10 points.  Both Ara Amirkhanian and Manolo Sanchez have scored two goals and have one assist each for five points.  Clemson is off to its best start since the 2006 season. UNC-Greensboro has a 3-2 record overall this season.  The Spartans won their first three matches including a 1-0 victory over #15 Charlotte to start the season.  Since then, UNC-Greensboro has lost to High Point and Coastal Carolina.  David Reittinger leads the Spartans in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points.  Mahdi Ali has two goals and one assist for five points. The Clemson defense has been key to the Tigers’ success this season.  Clemson has given up just one goal in the first five games of the 2013 season.  This is the first time since 1983 that the Tigers have given up just one goal in the first five matches of a season.  The Tigers are fourth in the nation for best team goals against average with a 0.19 mark. This will be the ninth meeting between Clemson and UNC-Greensboro on the soccer field.  Clemson leads the overall series 6-2. Also at the match, the first 200 fans in attendance will receive a free t-shirt.  Also one lucky fan will have a chance to win $5000 dollars in a contest to be held at halftime.
