Clemson, S.C. – The Clemson novice rowing squad is set to compete in the Secret City Head Race in Oak Ridge, Tenn. on Saturday. The race marks the first for the Tigers in the 2019-20 season.
Five eights and 45 total athletes will compete in the regatta. Of the 45 athletes competing for Clemson this weekend, 36 will compete in a boat for the first time. In addition, eight experienced recruited freshman will make their Tiger debut.
The Tigers will go compete against boats from five other institutions in the Women’s Collegiate 8+ heat including Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Alabama Huntsville, Auburn and Chattanooga. Tennessee and Clemson will each field five boats, more than any other team in the heat, with a total of 14 boats set to race.
Competition from Oak Ridge will begin at 9:00 a.m. with Clemson lining up for the start at 11:40 a.m. For full schedule, heat sheets and live results click here.
