DAVIDSON, N.C. – The No. 21-ranked Clemson Lacrosse Program is slated to open the 2025 season on the road against the Davidson Wildcats on Saturday, February 8 at 5 p.m. at Davidson College Stadium.

Saturday’s meeting will be the second time that Clemson and Davidson have played each other in the past two years. The first meeting marked the inaugural game in the Clemson Lacrosse Complex, which Clemson won 19-10. Regan Byrne led the offensive effort with six goals in her collegiate debut, tied for the second most in a single game by a Tiger. Fellow freshman Natalie Shurtleff and graduate transfer Claire Bockstie tallied three and four goals, respectively. Bockstie tied the single-game assist record with five and claimed the single-game points record outright with nine. Clemson outshot the Wildcats 37-23, putting 33 of those attempts on goal and successfully cleared 19 of their 20 opportunities. In the cage, Emily Lamparter totaled six saves in the 51 minutes she played.

The Tigers are returning 20 players from their impressive 2024 campaign, with eight freshman and five graduate transfers joining their ranks. Among the returners, Paris Masaracchia led the 2024 squad with 35 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers, while Lamparter and Shurtleff led Clemson with 20 assists and 147 saves, respectively. Byrne set the pace for the Tigers with 2.38 goals per game and Kayla MacLeod, another member of the fourth-ranked 2024 freshman class, was one of the best in the nation, cashing in from the eight-meter line. The Georgia native shared the highest percentage in the ACC and had a top-five percentage nationally, hitting her free-position goals at a .714 mark while recording .83 free-position goals per game, good for fourth highest in the ACC and a top-35 ranking.

The Tigers dipped into the portal during the offseason, adding graduate attackers Lexi Edmonds and Lindsey Marshall, as well as graduate midfielders Bryce Pfundstein, sister to Camryn Pfundstein, Maggie Jordan and Bridget Babcock, a group ranked as the seventh-best transfer class per Inside Lacrosse. Marshall is one of the most impressive players to come to Clemson statistically. During her time at Towson, she amassed 158 points, 125 of which were goals, 48 ground balls and 208 draw controls after three All-CAA years and accumulated six All-CAA honors. Jordan, a Richmond product, was named to an A-10 All-Conference Second Team and notched an A-10 All-Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Babcock, who previously went to Cornell, joins Marshall and Jordan with an all-conference selection of her own, being named to the 2024 All-Ivy Second Team as well as an Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week.

The Wildcats ended the 2024 campaign after a loss to Richmond in the Atlantic-10 tournament semifinal with a 10-7 final record and was 7-1 at Davidson College Stadium. Midfielder Josie Lambert, who led Davidson in 2024 with 52 goals and 58 total points, and goalkeeper Kayla Joyce, the team leader in average goals allowed and wins, are set to return for their senior and sophomore seasons, respectively. Head Coach Kim Wayne returns for her 17th year in her tenure alongside assistant coaches Amy Moreau and Marina Miller, a Clemson alumna and former coach for the Tigers.
