CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers (2-0) are set to take on the Stetson Hatters (1-1) on Sunday, February 16 at 12 p.m. for the first game of the year held at the Clemson Lacrosse Complex.

The Clemson offense has started the season on fire. The Tigers have scored 34 goals in the first two games, tied for the fourth-most in any two-game stretch in Clemson Lacrosse, with their scoring offense being a top-15 unit in the nation with a top-three shot percentage in the ACC.  Clemson outshot Vanderbilt, 33-19, and had attackers Lexi Edmonds, Lindsey Marshall and Kayla MacLeod all score hat tricks, the latter two scoring theirs within the first quarter. Edmonds, MacLeod and Marshall have accounted for 24 goals so far this season, with eight other Tigers scoring at least one goal. Edmonds, a graduate transfer from the University of Pennsylvania, has led the offense with 13 points off nine goals and, most recently, set a career-high five goals against the Commodores this past Wednesday. The second-year MacLeod has put eight in the cage with four goals in consecutive matches, while Marshall, the transfer from Towson, has also been superb in the young season, scoring seven goals.

The trio of attackers are all ranked within the top-20 nationally in goals scored, while Edmonds has been in a league of her own to start the season. Nationally, she is ranked eighth in goals scored with nine, tenth in points per game with 6.50 and fifth in points with 13 and is ranked third in goals and points per game and first in points in the ACC. Edmonds has also solidified herself as an elite shot taker thus far, placing second in the ACC and 14th in the nation after shooting 81.8%.

Freshman Kira Balis and the draw unit have been instrumental to Clemson’s early success. Balis is off to a strong start in the draw circle, as she has recorded her second consecutive game with double-digit draw controls. The draw unit has been instrumental to Clemson’s early success. The Tigers are second in the ACC and top-15 in both draw control percentage and draw controls per game.

Clemson has also been effective on the defensive front. During the game against Davidson, the Orange and Regalia picked up an ACC and program-high 32 ground balls, with Summer Agostino picking up the second-most ever for Clemson with five. The Tigers picked up another 18 against the Commodores and have forced 27 turnovers. Agostino once again leads the Tigers with three in each of the last two games, with graduate midfielder Bridget Babcock matching her efforts in the win over Vanderbilt.

The Hatters head to Clemson after defeating Butler, 18-7, and dropping their game against Oregon, 7-17. Kaitlin Pani, Kathleen Nichols and Miya Scanlan all lead Stetson with at least four goals, with Scanlan being the team’s leader in points and assists. Katie Kornacki and Riley Alexander each have caused a pair of turnovers, while Kornacki has led Stetson’s draw unit with 11 draw controls. In the cage for the Hatters, Maddie Eckert has saved 23 on the year for a 47.9% save rate. Stetson is led by first year head coach and 19th-year overall, Sue Murphy, and assistant coach Georgia Goering.
