CLEMSON, S.C. β The No. 17 Clemson Tigers (3-0) are set to travel to South Bend, Ind. to start ACC play against the No. 11 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (2-1). The game will mark the beginning of a two-game ACC road trip and the fourth time that the Tigers and the Irish have matched up against one another.
Clemson is headed into ACC play at the right time as the Tigers offense has been on fire to begin the season. Throughout the first three games, Clemson has scored a staggering 60 goals, 26 of which came in the home opener against Stetson for a program record. The 20 goals per game that the Orange and Regalia have been averaging is the highest mark in the ACC and the second-highest in the nation. In turn, the Clemson Lacrosse program leads the ACC in shots taken per game and have placed nearly 75% of them on goal. Clemson additionally leads the ACC and is top-five nationally in points per game.
The offense is led by attackers Kayla MacLeod and Lexi Edmonds. MacLeod has cemented herself as an offensive force in her second year with the Tigers. The sophomore has amassed 14 goals in three games played this year, the third-most and tied with for second-most in the ACC in terms of average and total, respectively. Most recently, MacLeod recorded six goals against Stetson, tied for the second most goals in a game in Clemson Lacrosse history. Edmonds has also been on a hot streak to begin the season. The Pennsylvania transfer has nearly kept pace with MacLeod and has notched 13 goals in 2025 while putting up an additional four assists for the second most points in the ACC as well as having the highest shot percentage in the ACC. Brooke Goldstein has distributed the ball well in her first three games of collegiate lacrosse. The freshman has notched a team-high eight assists and has the second-most assists and highest rate of assists per game by any freshman in the country.
The Clemson defense has been solid to start the season as well. The Tigers have the best corps in the ACC and sixth-best unit in the nation when it comes to picking up ground balls with Byrne and Agostino being responsible for eight each. The senior, Agostino, has also been a menace for opposing offenses, causing a team-high 10 turnovers and the second-most caused turnovers in the ACC.
The draw unit has additionally been a force for Clemson. Led by Kira Balis, the unit leads the ACC by winning 67.7% of their draw controls, the sixth-highest mark nationally, and lead Division I by winning 21 draw controls per game, good for 63 in total. Balis herself has been superb. The freshman is second nationally with 12.67 draw controls per game and set the program record this season with 18 draw controls against Stetson.
Notre Dame comes into the match up on a two-game winning streak. The Fighting Irish lost their opener against then-No. 2-ranked Northwestern before defeating Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan. Freshman midfielder Madison Rassas leads the Notre Dame offense with 10 goals on the year and 13 points. Graduate midfielder Kristen Shanahan leads the draw unit, winning 14 draw controls, while sophomore midfielder Meghan OβHare leads the defense with nine ground balls and seven caused turnovers. In the cage, Isabel Pithie has recorded 17 saves and averages 6.93 goals per game. Head Coach Christine Halfpenny, who is in her 12th year with the program, associate coach Lauren Benner and assistant coaches Caroline Curnal and Ellie Masera lead the Fighting Irish.
