CLEMSON, S.C. – The No. 14 Clemson Tigers (4-0, 1-0 ACC) are slated for another top-25 road ACC match up against the No. 6 Syracuse Orange (3-2, 0-1 ACC) on Saturday, March 1 at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, N.Y.

The Tigers are entering the weekend matinee matchup after a thrilling 12-11 victory over then-No. 11 Notre Dame, a win that marked the highest-ever ranked victory for Clemson and the first time in program history that the Tigers took down the Irish. Midfielder Natalie Shurtleff set the pace for the offense as she recorded her second hat trick of the season and the seventh of her career. Two of the sophomore’s three goals came from the eight meter in the fourth quarter, including the game winning goal with a minute left. Attackers Kayla MacLeod, Lindsey Marshall, Regan Byrne and Katie Castiello all scored a pair of goals while each of them, including Bridget Babcock, placed one in the back of the cage from the free position line to help Clemson score 70% of their free position opportunities.

Defensively, Summer Agostino and Paris Masaracchia each caused a pair of turnovers while Agostino and Marshall picked up three and two ground balls respectively. In the cage, Emily Lamparter put on a show. The goalie recorded 13 saves on 33 shots faced for a 54.2% save rate and saved 80% of her free position shots faced. The 13 saves are her highest of the season thus far and is the second-most in a single game in Clemson Lacrosse history. Her efforts were awarded with Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) National Defensive Player of the Week and the ACC Defensive Player of the Week nods. This is the second time Lamparter has earned the IWLCA award and the first time that she has earned an ACC Player of the Week nod. Additionally, this is the first time a Tiger has secured both national and conference lacrosse accolades in a single week.

Overall, the Tigers have had their hottest start in program history. Clemson has one the highest scoring offenses in the country with 18 goals on 37 shots on a per game basis while placing nearly 75% of their shots on goal. On defense, the Orange and Regalia have caused 50 turnovers and picked up 84 ground balls while holding opposing teams to 8.75 goals per game and allowing under 40% of opposing teams free position opportunities. The Tigers have won just over 60% of their draw controls for 17.75 per game and have cleared the ball on 93% of all attempts.
