Five Named CSC Academic All-District Selections

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson Softball’s Reese Basinger, Jamison Brockenbrough, Julia Knowler, Brooke McCubbin and Aby Vieira have been named Academic All-District selections, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced on Tuesday. This is the fourth year Clemson has had Academic All-District honorees and matches the most in a single year with the 2023 campaign.

Basinger* (Evans, Ga.), a biological sciences major, started in 35 games last season and posted an 18-6 record with three solo shutouts. She pitched 178.1 innings and struck out 121 batters en route to being named the 2025 ACC Pitcher of the Year and an NFCA First Team All-Region selection.

Brockenbrough (Locust Grove, Ga.), a communications major, clocked a .318 average behind 49 hits. The junior drew 25 walks, tallied 24 RBIs and scored 44 runs on the year. The All-ACC Third Team selection stole eight bases on the year and finished with a .419 on-base percentage.

Knowler (Fort Myers, Fla.) is working towards a degree in parks, recreation and tourism management. The sophomore recorded a .313 average at the plate and finished with a program-record 19 doubles on the season alongside her 15 home runs. She tallied 62 RBIs and scored 31 runs while drawing 24 walks. The All-ACC Second Team selection finished the year with 381 putouts, a single-season program record, and four assists.

McCubbin* (Locust Grove, Ga.), an athletic leadership graduate student, finished with an 18-6 record in the circle through her 40 appearances. She struck out 84 batters in 142 innings of work with two solo shutouts and tied the single season record for saves with five. She was an All-ACC Third Team selection and guided the Tigers to their first ACC Championship while being named to the ACC All-Tournament Team. This is her second CSC All-District selection.

Vieira* (Mission Viejo, Calif.) graduated with a degree in management. She started in all 62 games behind the plate and had a breakout year with a .337 batting average. She notched 60 hits, including 17 doubles, three home runs and one triple to finish with 33 RBIs and 32 runs scored. The All-ACC Second Team honoree had a .494 slugging percentage and .419 on-base percentage while stealing three bases. Defensively, she clocked 278 putouts and 22 assists.

To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, be a sophomore academically and have a year-in-residence at their current school while appearing in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests.

The 2024-25 Academic All-District Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.

Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 17, 2025.
