CLEMSON OVERVIEW
|• Clemson, which has a 26-7 home record, had a 3-1 record in the ACC Tournament last week, advancing to the championship game.
• The Tigers are averaging 7.2 runs per game and hitting .279 with a .452 slugging percentage, .408 on-base percentage and 79 steals.
• The pitching staff has a 4.95 ERA, .249 opponents’ batting average and 2.48 strikeout-to-walk ratio, and Clemson is fielding .975.


USC UPSTATE OVERVIEW
• USC Upstate, which has a 14-9 road record and is averaging 9.7 runs per game, is led by first-year Head Coach Kane Sweeney.
• The Spartans won the Big South Conference Tourney with a 3-0 record. They are hitting .319 and have a 5.40 ERA and .963 fielding percentage.
• Scott Campbell is hitting .400 with 11 homers, 54 RBIs and 21 steals and Johnny Sweeney has 17 homers and 81 RBIs.


TIGERS IN THE CLEMSON REGIONAL
• Clemson (44-16), the No. 1 seed, opens its Clemson Regional by playing No. 4 seed USC Upstate (36-23) on Friday at 6 p.m. on ACC Network.
• The Tigers are the designated home team on Friday.
• The winner of Clemson’s game plays the winner of the game between No. 2 seed West Virginia (41-14) and No. 3 seed Kentucky (29-24).
• The Tigers occupy the first-base dugout for all their games in the Clemson Regional.
• Clemson is the No. 11 national seed.
• The winner of the Clemson Regional plays the winner of the Baton Rouge (La.) Regional from June 6-9.
• Clemson is 11-2 against West Virginia, with the last meetings occurring in a three-game series at Clemson from Feb. 13-15, 2015.
• The Mountaineers won two of the three games after the Tigers won the first 10 games of the series. The two have never met at West Virginia.
• Clemson is 3-0 against West Virginia in the NCAA Tournament, wins in 1967 (5-0), 1987 (8-0) and 1996 (6-3 at Clemson).
• The first meeting between Clemson and West Virginia took place at Greensboro, N.C., a 6-2 Tiger win on May 18, 1951.
• Clemson is 6-3 against Kentucky, with the last meetings occurring in the Tigers’ three-game sweep at Clemson on Feb. 22,23, 1997.
• Kentucky is 2-0 against Clemson in the NCAA Tournament, wins in 1950 (4-2 at Kannapolis, N.C.) and 1988 (8-7 at New Britain, Conn.).
• The first meeting between Clemson and Kentucky took place in the aforementioned game in 1950. The two teams have never met at Kentucky.
• Clemson is 10-3 against USC Upstate, with the Tigers winning 7-0 at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C. on March 4, 2025.
• Five Tigers combined on a nine-hit shutout and Jacob Jarrell, Josh Paino, Tristan Bissetta and Andrew Ciufo all hit homers in the 2025 win.
• Nine of the 13 meetings have taken place at Clemson, while the other four were played at Fluor Field.
• The first meeting between Clemson and USC Upstate took place at Clemson on March 18, 2009, a 14-0 Tiger win in a combined no-hitter.


NCAA TOURNAMENT CONNECTIONS
• Four former Clemson assistant coaches are serving as head coaches of a 2025 NCAA Tournament team.
• Texas Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle was an assistant coach at Clemson in 1993.
• Vanderbilt Head Coach Tim Corbin was an assistant coach at Clemson from 1994-02.
• Florida Head Coach Kevin O’Sullivan was an assistant coach at Clemson from 1999-07.
• Clemson Head Coach Erik Bakich was an assistant coach at Clemson in 2002.
• West Virginia junior catcher Logan Sauve is the son of Jeff Sauve, a standout righthander and placekicker at Clemson from 1991-95.


TIGERS HOST REGIONAL FOR 19TH TIME
• Clemson is hosting an NCAA regional for the 19th time in history in 2025.
• Clemson last hosted a regional in 2024. From 1994 to 2011 (18 years), the Tigers hosted a regional 11 times.
• Clemson joins Arkansas as the only two schools to host a regional in 2023, 2024 and 2025.


CLEMSON’S NCAA TOURNEY HISTORY
• The Tigers play in their 47th all-time NCAA regional when they compete in the 2025 Clemson Regional.
• The 47 appearances are fifth most in NCAA history, trailing only Texas (64), Florida State (61), Miami (Fla.) (50) and Oklahoma State (50).
• Clemson has made 10 super regional appearances, with its last in 2024 by winning the Clemson Regional.
• The Tigers have made 12 trips to the College World Series, with their last in 2010.
• Clemson has a 125-99 record (.558) in NCAA Tournament games.

ACC TOURNAMENT RECAP
• Clemson had a 3-1 record in the ACC Tournament at Durham, N.C., advanced to the championship game and finished in second place.
• Clemson was the only team to play four games in the ACC Tournament and tied the champion, North Carolina, for the most wins.
• Clemson trailed in all three of its wins.
• The Tigers defeated Virginia Tech 6-1 behind Dominic Listi’s homer and four RBIs on May 21.
• Clemson totaled 16 hits in its 7-6 win over No. 20 NC State in the quarterfinal round on May 22.
• The Tigers rallied from a 3-0 deficit, keyed by Jacob Jarrell’s grand slam, to top No. 16 Georgia Tech 9-4 in the semifinal round on May 24.

• Dominic Listi earned All-ACC Tournament honors by going 6-for-12 with a homer, double, five RBIs, four runs and a .667 on-base percentage.
• Cam Cannarella earned All-ACC Tournament honors by going 7-for-16 (.438) with a homer, double, four RBIs and three runs.
• Andrew Ciufo was 6-for-13 (.462) with two doubles, two RBIs, four runs, a .563 on-base percentage and two steals.
• Jacob McGovern had one save and allowed one hit, no runs and one walk with six strikeouts in 6.0 innings pitched over two relief outings.


McGOVERN STEALTHY FROM LEFT SIDE
• Sophomore lefthander Jacob McGovern does not have overpowering “stuff,” but has been effective at recording outs.
• He is 3-1 with two saves, a 3.48 ERA, .157 opponents’ batting average and 37 strikeouts against 11 walks in 18 outings (two starts) in 2025.
• In his 16 relief outings, he has a 2.39 ERA, .144 opponents’ batting average and 30 strikeouts against seven walks in 26.1 innings pitched.
• In his nine appearances away from home, he has an 0.93 ERA, .123 opponents’ batting average and 22 strikeouts in 19.1 innings pitched.
• In nine ACC regular-season relief outings, he was 1-1 with one save, a 2.84 ERA and .143 opponents’ batting average in 12.2 innings pitched.
• He missed nearly a month during the middle of the season due to injury.
• Since returning from injury, he has an 0.47 ERA, .097 opponents’ batting average and 18 strikeouts in 19.1 innings pitched over 11 outings.
• He has allowed only one of 13 inherited baserunners to score.
• He pitched 3.0 perfect innings with three strikeouts to record his first career save at Pittsburgh on May 16.
• He pitched 4.0 innings, allowing one hit, no runs and no walks to record the save against No. 16 Georgia Tech in the ACC Tourney on May 24.
• In 6.0 innings pitched over two relief appearances in the ACC Tournament, he allowed one hit, no runs and one walk with six strikeouts.
• In his career, he is 6-1 with two saves, a 2.92 ERA, .171 opponents’ batting average and 57 strikeouts in 49.1 innings pitched.
