PRINCETON, N.J. – The Clemson Tigers Rowing program will once again head up to the northeast to compete in the Princeton Chase on Sunday, November 3 starting at 9 a.m. Last time out at the Head of the Charles regatta, Clemson earned a top 10 finish out of a 42-boat field in the Club 8+ race with their fastest time in Boston since 2008.Â
The Tigers are bringing eight boats in total with three slated to compete in the Women’s Open 8+, starting approximately at 10 a.m., and the other five racing in the Women’s Open 4+ with an approximate start time of 1:20 p.m. Regatta results can be found here.
“We’re really looking forward to the Princeton Chase” said Head Rowing Coach Adrienne Martelli, “There’s a great field of teams, with 61 entries in the 8+ and 43 in the 4+. As always, racing is an opportunity to execute what we’ve been working on in practice, push the limits of fitness, and embrace going against other teams.”Â
The 2024 Princeton Chase is the second fall regatta under the Martelli administration. Accompanying her to New Jersey are assistant coaches Zoe Adamson and Alana Holt and director of operations Sheila Rinozzi in their first regattas as Tigers.Â
Adamson joins the Tiger rowing program after a two-year stint at Old Dominion as an assistant coach. During her time with the Monarchs, Adamson led the program to a fifth-place finish in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship, developed freshman Nicole Knight into the AAC Newcomer of the Year and a Second Team All-AAC recipient and had six Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Scholar Athletes under her tutelage. Holt joins the Clemson rowing coaching staff after a stint in Pittsburgh with Duquesne as an assistant coach. During her time with the Dukes, Holt coached the 1V8 during the fall where she helped lead the boat to a first-place finish at Head of Ohio. The Folsom native also developed 14 CRCA Scholar-Athletes and a pair of College Sports Communicators (CSC) All-District At-Large members.  Rinozzi enters her first season with the Orange and Regalia after three seasons in the same role for the Ohio State Buckeyes. In 2022 and 2023, respectively, she oversaw a Buckeyes first and second-place finish in the Big 10 Championships, an eighth and 12th-place finish in the NCAA Division I Rowing Championships, and the 2022 Varsity 4 boat earning a silver medal nationally.Â
