Four Freshman Named to ILWomen Power 100 Ranking

CLEMSON, S.C. – Inside Lacrosse announced Wednesday their Women’s Class of 2024 Power 100 Rankings which featured two Clemson freshman ranked in the top 50 and two on the watch list.  

“We’re excited to see them recognized.” said Head Coach Allison Kwolek, “Through these first few weeks of our fall season, they’ve transitioned very well to the pace of college play and have proven to be highly competitive and coachable. I’m looking forward to their continued progress as we get closer to the spring season.”  

The only defender of the class, Maddie Wrenn leads the Clemson freshmen class with the No. 20 overall ranking. The five-star recruit, initially ranked as No. 35 on National Signing Day, hails from Davidsonville, Maryland where she played for Archbishop Spalding High School as a four-year letterwinner. Wrenn was twice named a USA Lacrosse All-American, was a 2024 USA Lacrosse All-Academic honoree and Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) All-Conference team. The Maryland native was additionally named to the Washington Post All-Metro First-Team and twice selected to the Anne Arundel First-Team All-County.  

Hailing from Cantonsville, Maryland, midfielder and five-start recruit Kira Balis was ranked by Inside Lacrosse as the No. 22 overall player in the class. At St. Paul’s School for Girls, where she was a teammate with current sophomore Natalie Shurtleff, she was named the Girls Athlete of the Year and team captain of her lacrosse team. Balis was a three-time winner of the IAAM Championship while also being selected for the IAAM All-Conference Team, the Baltimore Sun All-Metro First-Team and received the Under Armour All-American MVP and Tournament MVP.  

Attacker Brooke Goldstein and midfielder Susan Lowther were both featured on Inside Lacrosse’s Watchlist. From Delray Beach, Florida, Goldstein is a two-time USA Lacrosse All-American honoree and was awarded the Florida 1A Player of the Year in 2023 and nominated in 2024. The Floridian led American Heritage in goals and assists while also being named First-Team All-District, First-Team All-Region and First-Team All-County during all four years of her high school career.  Lowther, a native of Sarasota, Florida, was a three-sport varsity athlete at Riverside High School, becoming a letterwinner in track and field, basketball and lacrosse. The midfielder was a three-time USA Lacrosse All-American honoree and twice-named the Tri-County Athlete of the Year.  

This year’s freshmen class arrived on campus in the summer of 2024 and will compete in fall ball starting on Sunday, October 6 at 12 p.m. at the Clemson Lacrosse Complex against the Mercer Bears.
