PREVIEW

  • Clemson continues ACC play welcoming NC State to Jervey Gym on Friday
  • The Tigers enter the match with a 9-4 (0-1 ACC) record, while NC State holds a 10-1 overall record

LAST TIME OUT

  • Clemson last hit the court on Wednesday against No. 13 Georgia Tech where the Tigers forced the Yellow Jackets to a fourth set
  • The Tigers outlasted the Yellow Jackets in the opening set for a 31-29 set win – it marked the first time Clemson had taken  a set from GT since Oct. 23, 2020, the first time Clemson had taken the opening set since Nov. 22, 2019 and the first time the Tigers took a set inside Jervey Gym since Oct. 12, 2014.
  • Clemson’s opening set victory marked the first time the Tigers have taken a set against a ranked opponent since Oct. 23, 2020 (also vs. Georgia Tech) and the first time they have won the opening set against a ranked opponent since Nov. 10, 2019 (against No. 2 Pitt)

BLOCKING POWER

  • The Tigers have become a force at the net during the 2023 campaign led by graduate transfer Adria Powell
  • As a team, Clemson leads the ACC with 119 total blocks and sits 16th in the NCAA through the Georgia Tech match
  • The Tigers are averaging 2.48 blocks per set, which ranks third in the ACC and 49th in the NCAA
  • Powell leads the way for Clemson and the ACC in both total blocks (72) and sits second in blocks per set (1.53) 
  • Following Wednesday’s match, Powell led the country in total blocks and sits eighth in blocks per set

MILESTONES

  • Graduate Mckenna Slavik and junior Devan Taylor have been driving forces behind Clemson’s success 
  • During the second week of action, Slavik reached the 4,000-career assist milestone to become only the fourth Tiger in program history to accomplish the benchmark – She also became the fifth-active Division I athlete to surpass 4,000 career assists
  • In the first week, Slavik moved up in Clemson’s career records to move into fourth all-time in assists with 3,891 (has 4,171 through the GT match) – she is 134 assists away from moving into third (which currently is at 4,305)
  • During her career, Slavik has also racked up 944 digs sitting only 56 out from reaching the 1,000 dig benchmark
  • Taylor surpassed the 1,000-career dig milestone during the fourth week of action while at Tulane. She became the first Tiger to reach the benchmark since Madi Howell accomplished it in 2020
  • Both will be recognized on court prior to the NC State match for their accomplishments
