BLOCKING POWER

  • The Tigers have become a force at the net during the 2023 campaign led by graduate transfer Adria Powell
  • As a team, Clemson leads the ACC with 113 total blocks and sits 23rd in the NCAA through the fourth week of action
  • The Tigers are averaging 2.57 blocks per set, which ranks second in the ACC and 36th in the NCAA
  • Powell leads the way for Clemson and the ACC in both total blocks (68) and sits second in blocks per set (1.58) – in both of these categories, Powell ranks in the top 10 in the NCAA coming in at third in total blocks and seventh in blocks per set

MILESTONES

  • Graduate Mckenna Slavik and junior Devan Taylor have been driving forces behind Clemson’s success
  • During the second week of action, Slavik reached the 4,000-career assist milestone to become only the fourth Tiger in program history to accomplish the benchmark – She also became the fifth-active Division I athlete to maintain over 4,000 career assists
  • In the first week, Slavik moved up in Clemson’s career records to move into fourth all-time in assists with 3,891 (has 4,140 through the third week) – she is 165 assists away from moving into third (which currently is at 4,305)
  • During her career, Slavik has also racked up 932 digs sitting only 68 out from reaching the 1,000 dig benchmark
  • Taylor surpassed the 1,000-career dig milestone during the fourth week of action while at Tulane. She became the first Tiger to reach the benchmark since Madi Howell accomplished it in 2020

NON-CONFERENCE PLAY

  • Clemson finished the non-conference slate with a 9-3 record capturing tournament victories in the Big Orange Bash and Tulane Invitational
  • The 9-3 record matches Clemson’s non-conference record in 2021 when the Tigers started 8-3 during tournament play and added a victory against Southern Miss. that November
  • Clemson concluded non-conference play at the Tulane Invitational winning all three matches against Tulane, Houston Christian and UTEP – this included Head Coach Jackie Simpson Kirr’s first reference sweep during her tenure at the helm of the Tiger program
