2022 Staff Olympic Recap

Orange Takes 2022 Title

CLEMSON, S.C.- The 2022 Staff Summer Olympic Games have officially come to a close. The Olympic Committee organized five events (Kickball, Dodgeball, Basketball,Golf and Wiffle Ball) at various venues within the Athletic District, which occurred bi-weekly over the course of the summer months of June and July.

The Second Annual Staff Olympics participation numbers were at a record high! It was a very engaged group of hard working, competitive colleagues, that clearly exhibited the “work hard, play hard” mentality. In addition to winning the ‘ship of course, the mission of Staff Olympics is to break down barriers/silos within Athletics and provide a space for people to connect and “get to know” outside of their immediate offices.

Olympic Committee: Ashby Burton, Adam Hatem, Ben Houston, Jordy Kirr, Lindsey Ricketts
# of Participants: 80+
# of Depts: Over 30 different departments represented within Athletics

“Thank you to those staff members who participated in the staff olympics this summer. I certainly understand the challenge of breaking away from your desk mid-day, but I hope that it was an hour of relaxation, fun and connection. I know the activities provided those benefits for me!” – Jordy Kirr, Assistant AD Personnel Engagement & Development

“Our planning committee’s main goal for Staff Olympics was to break down barriers/silos within Athletics and provide a space for people to get to know others outside of their immediate offices. Hopefully we accomplished this goal throughout the summer.” – Adam Hatem, Associate Director of Athletic Academic Services

The Team Standings were back and forth all Summer. All four teams won at least one of the events, so it came down to the wire. The final standings were ideal for TV viewership as it all came down to the final event of Wiffle Ball. Only one point separated first, second and third place.
