1999 Clemson Football Outlook

Clemson played five first-year freshmen and red-shirted 13 players off its 1998 recruiting class. The Tigers had outstanding contributions from rookies Keith Adams, Chad Carson, Vince Ciurciu, Akil Smith and Braxton K. Williams last season. But, there are some outstanding players from this class waiting in the wings to show what they can do in 1999. The red-shirt group includes top linemen Gary Byrd and Brady Washburn, Nathan Gillespie, and Nick Eason, who will all challenge for considerable time next year.
