17th-Ranked Tigers Match Best ACC Start in School History

CHESTNUT HILL, MA – With a sweep of the singles matches, No. 17 Clemson upped its winning streak to nine matches and improved to 16-3 (8-0 ACC) on the season with a 6-1 win over No. 43 Boston College on Sunday afternoon. The 8-0 start to ACC play matches the school record for most wins to begin conference play. The Eagles dropped to 10-7 (2-5 ACC) with the loss.     For the first time in 14 matches and just the second time all season, the Tigers lost the doubles point. Clemson fell in the top two flights but did manage to pick up a victory on court three. Yuilynn Miao and Jessy Rompies won that match and improved to 11-1 on the season, 6-0 in ACC play.  Despite the early setback, Clemson came back strong in singles, winning all six matches. Yana Koroleva, Tristen Dewar and Joana Eidukonyte each won in straight sets while Romy Koelzer, Beatrice Gumulya and Jessy Rompies each needed three sets. Koroleva’s victory was the 50th of her Tiger career and ninth in a row. As a team, Clemson is now 43-5 (.896) in ACC play in singles matches. In all, Clemson claimed 50 out of a possible 56 points in ACC play, and is one two unbeaten teams in conference play (Miami).  After more than a month of matches away from home and a stretch of seven matches in seven different states in March, the Tigers return to the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center to host Florida State on Friday, April 4 at 3 p.m.  Tennis Match Results Clemson vs Boston College Mar 30, 2014 at Chestnut Hill, MA (Flynn Recreation Complex) #17 Clemson 6, #43 Boston College 1 Singles competition 1. #46 Yana Koroleva (CU) def.
