#12 Tiger Women’s Tennis Team Sweeps N.C. State 7-0 on Saturday Afternoon

RALEIGH, NC – The 12th-ranked Clemson Women’s Tennis team swept all three doubles matches, along with the six singles matches to give them a 7-0 victory over North Carolina State at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. The win improves the Tigers’ record to 13-5 overall and 5-1 in ACC play, while the Wolfpack fall to 4-12 overall and 1-5 in the ACC.

In doubles action, Alexandra Luc and Estephania Balda got the Tigers rolling with an 8-4 win over Daria Petrovic and Pender Sessoms. Eighth-ranked Ani Mijacika and Ina Hadziselimovic defeated Neils Barringer and Diana Mortlock 8-4.

Luc and Hadziselimovic cruised to victory as they each only dropped one game. Senior Alexandra Luc defeated Jackie Ussery 6-1, 6-0 to finish first, and junior Ina Hadziselimovic defeated Neils Barringer 6-1, 6-0 as she finished second. Mijacika, the #1-ranked player in the nation, clinched the match as she defeated 99th-ranked Lenka Hojckova in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0 at flight one.

Freshman Keri Wong won her seventh consecutive singles match as she defeated Diana Mortlock 6-1, 7-5 to put the Tigers up 5-0. Balda finished fifth defeating Daria Petrovic in three sets, 6-0, 1-6, 7-5 at flight three, and 10th-ranked Bek closed out the day with a straight set win over Berkeley Brock 7-6(5), 7-6(2) at flight two.

Clemson will be back in action Sunday as they travel to Winston-Salem, NC to play Wake Forest. The match is scheduled to being at 12:00pm at Leighton Stadium.
