#1 Virginia Defeats #25 Clemson 7-0

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Number-one ranked Virginia defeated Clemson 7-0 in a men’s Atlantic Coast Conference tennis match at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville, VA Friday evening.Win the victory, Virginia is now 18-0 overall and 7-0 in the ACC.  Clemson falls to 15-5 overall and 4-3 in league play.  The Cavaliers are ranked number-one nationally.  Five Virginia singles players are ranked in the top 50.  All three Cavalier doubles teams are ranked in the top 42.In doubles, Clemson lost two matches that required tiebreakers.  The Cavaliers’ Jarmere Jenkins and Mac Syslinger, ranked second in the country, defeated Yannick and Dominique Maden 9-8.  At number-two doubles, #13 Alex Domijan and Mitchell Frank defeated Clemson’s Zachary Rigsby and Ayrton Wibowo, 9-8.In singles play, #2 Jarmere Jenkins defeated #24 Yannick Maden 6-3, 7-6 at number-one singles.  At number-two singles, #1 Alex Domijan of Virginia held off Clemson’s Hunter Harrington in three sets 7-6, 5-7, 6-3.Clemson will play at Virginia Tech Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in Blacksburg, VA.  It will be the 16th meeting between Clemson and the Hokies in men’s tennis.  Clemson leads the series 8-7.  The series began in 1969.Virginia 7, Clemson 0
