COLLEGE STATION, Texas – After securing four first-place finishes, the Tigers impress at the Ted Nelson Invitational in their first road meet of the indoor season. The throwing group shined for Clemson as the Tigers secured all three first-place titles in the three throwing events including men’s and women’s weight, and men’s shot put.

We had a decent performance today,” Track and Field Director Mark Elliot said. “We did have some outstanding performances and for some, it was a very good meet.”

MEET HIGHLIGHTS

  • Cope set the new meet record in the men’s weight throw at 20.85, the previous record was 20.28 which was set by Austin Cook of Texas A&M in 2018
  • Forbes set the new meet record in the women’s weight after throwing 20.84m, breaking the previous MR of 19.85m set in 2014 by Baylor’s Erin Atkinson
  • Kendra Dye records a new PB in the women’s weight throw (17.53m) as she holds the No. 10 spot in Clemson’s top-10 list and secured second place in the event.
  • Courtney Lawrence recorded a PB in the men’s shot put as he threw 17.98m, securing him the No. 6 spot on the Tigers all-time list
  • In the women’s high jump, Jessica Johnson records her best mark of the season at 1.65m
  • Annie Lineberger moves up in the top-1o list in the women’s pole vault as she cleared 3.87m, giving her the No. 9 all-time spot.
  • Oneka Wilson earned her best finish of the season in the prelims of the 60 meter hurdles with a time 8.30
  • Gladys Chepngetich is the first to cross the line in the women’s mile as she completes the race at 4:47.71 to earn first place
  • Lashanna Graham records her best time of the season in the women’s 400m as she completed the event in 54.61
  • Antionette Van Der Merwe records her fastest time of the season in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.33
  • In the men’s pole vault, Efram Melendez recorded a new personal best as he cleared 4.62m
  • In the women’s triple jump, Nia Christie secured her best jump of the season at 11.93m
