Clemson, SC – Former Clemson golfer Phillip Mollica won the eGolf Professional Tour’s El Jadida Classic in Morocco on March 15, 2011 by shooting a final-round 67 at the Pullman Royal Golf Club.
Mollica played his final round bogey-free and came from behind to overtake former University of Georgia All-American and United States Walker Cup player Brian Harman, who had a final round 79.
Mollica’s 67 included birdies on the first, second, eighth, 10th and 18th holes and pushed him to 10-under par (69-71-71-67) for the tournament. He won by two shots over Derek Fathauer.
Mollica earned the winner’s check for $40,000 and moved to the top of the eGolf Tour’s money list for 2011. His victory also earned him a return trip to Morocco later this month as an exempt player in the European Tour’s prestigious King Hassan II Trophy competition.
Mollica played for the Tigers from 2005-09 and was a starter on Clemson’s 2008 team that finished fifth in the nation. He was also a teammate of current former Tigers on the PGA Tour, Ben Martin and Kyle Stanley.
Mollica is the only two-time champion of the Monroe Amateur, and also won the North-South Amateur at Pinehurst in 2007.
