GYM: No. 16 Tigers post 196.300 at No. 9 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – Brie Clark tied a pair of career highs and won floor and beam in Clemson’s Sunday performance at No. 9 Stanford, contributing to 16th-ranked Clemson’s 196.300. The Clemson graduate posted a 9.950 on floor to defeat Ana Barbosu, the 2024 Olympic Bronze medalist on floor, and also added a 9.925 against the nation’s No. 6 beam lineup. Clemson (1-3, 0-2 ACC, 196.231 avg.) posted a 196.300, its fourth-highest ever in a true road meet, on Sunday in Maples Pavilion against No. 9 Stanford. 

The Cardinal (2-1, 1-0 ACC) earned a 197.075 to take the dual meet win. 

Graduate Ella Cesario became the first Tiger to compete the All-Around since 2024, and her first time this season, posting a 39.225, which was third-best. Tara Walsh also added a pair of 9.875s (floor, beam). 

Bars: 49.150

Lilly Lippeatt led off the rotation with a 9.775 ahead of sophomore Hannah Clark’s season-best 9.875 in the second spot. For Clark, it was just 0.025 off her career-best. Freshman Emma Malewski posted a 9.825 in her second career appearance after coming off an injury the day before the opening meet. Ella Cesario had a 9.850 on bars, and all four of her routines this year on bars have been 9.850 or higher. Takoda Berry posted a season-best 9.825 in the anchor spot. 

Vault: 48.725

Maggie Holman and Tara Walsh each posted a 9.775 to lead the Tigers in the rotation, and Madison Minner, Eve Jackson and Ella Cesario each had 9.725s to give the Tigers a 48.725. 

Floor: 49.300

The Tigers put together their best floor rotation of the season to this point, with each routine progressively getting better, culminating in Brie Clark’s school-record-tying 9.950 in the anchor spot. For Clark, it was her third time achieving the mark, and the eighth time a Tiger has hit it. Ella Cesario tallied a 9.900 in her first floor appearance of the year. She followed Tara Walsh’s third consecutive 9.875. Madison Minner had a 9.800 and Lilly Lippeatt added a 9.775 to round out the scoring. Maggie Holman also posted a solid 9.750 in the leadoff spot. 

Beam: 49.125

Walsh led off with a career-high-tying 9.875, and her second of the meet (floor). Lippeatt followed with a 9.75, setting the table for Brie Clark, who was nearly perfect en route to a 9.925, tying her career-best and giving her the individual event victory. Stanford entered the meet as the nation’s No. 6 beam lineup and posted a 49.325. Cesario continued her strong beam appearances with a 9.800, and Quinn Kuhl closed with a 9.775.
