CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s tennis program is set to compete in Auburn, Ala. over the weekend in The Battle on The Plains tournament starting tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 3. The tournament will have 32 pairs split between two draws (blue and orange) and will be played as a mini dual, consisting of a doubles match followed by two singles matches. The winner of two out of three matches will advance in the draw.

Matisse Farzam, Marko Mesarovic, Yannic Nittmann and Nathan Pitts will compete in the tournament. Farzam / Mesarovic and Nittmann / Pitts will each be paired up in the blue draw. Farzam / Mesarovic will play Brian / Nakajima (North Alabama) and Nittmann / Pitts will begin against Swaine / Henceroth (South Carolina) to kick off the tournament tomorrow.

Racket Fire Facts

  • Farzam makes his Fall debut for Clemson after recently playing in the U.S. Open Junior Championships this past Aug. and Sept.
    • The coaching staff views Farzam as one of the top young American players entering college tennis this year, demonstrating his ability to compete with the best juniors in the world.
  • Mesarovic made his 2025 Fall debut at the ITA All-American Championships, where he beat Kim (Virginia) 6-4 6-4 in the prequalifying singles round of 256.
    • He also won in the prequalifying doubles rounds of 32 and 16 with Edoardo Chérié Lignière, beating Palovic / Pougault (Arkansas) 6-4 6-4 and Zamani / Bowden (Baylor) 7-5 6-3.
  • Nittmann played in the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic last month, going 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles matches (with Chérié Lignière) en route to finishing third in the blue draw.
  • Pitts won the UTR College Circuit at Furman University as an unattached player last month after winning all five of his matches and will make his 2025 Fall debut for the Tigers this weekend.
